Does urban dictionary reflect and influence our modern-day language? 

The English language is constantly evolving. Designed to be an online open-source dictionary of slang, Urban Dictionary seeks to capture its growth by allowing users to submit definitions for any word they would like.

In this data project, I hope to study the contents of urban dictionary and examine whether or not the site has any influence on the popularity of words. As a brief overview of my methodology, I scraped all word-of-the-days from Urban Dictionary's front page using Webscraper.io and then looked up Google Trend Hits 10 days before and after the word's day utilizing the R package gTrendsR. All my data visualizations and visualizations were created and conducted through R.
